Difference between rh and abo blood group
Everyone in the universe are aware of blood groups namely O, A-, B+, AB, etc. But, the reality is that many of us do not actually understand the meaning or the difference of each group. It is been identified as a name without comprehending the complexity of each group. Blood comprises of four components mainly, red blood cells that carries oxygen in the body cells, the next is the white blood cells that functions as the soldier mechanism, this is followed by platelets that helps in forming blood clots and lastly is the plasma where protein survives. The red blood cells define the blood group you actually belong to. There are small markers known as antigens on the red cells surface, but they are so tiny that it cannot be viewed under a microscope. However, every person has different antigens but for identical twins. The antigens identify the blood types and are the key to match the transfusions as well that helps in avoiding serious complications. The blood group structure is defined as the ABO system. An individual having blood group A, will have A antigens enveloping the red cells and the B blood group will have B antigens enveloping the red cells, while the O group has none of these antigens and the AB blood group has both the antigens of A and B. the ABO system covers antibodies existing in the plasma as they are the natural defenders against foreign antigens. Blood group A consists of anti B in its plasma and B has anti-A. Group AB in reality has no antibodies, while the blood group O has both the anti bodies. In case the antibodies locate wrong red blood cells, they will certainly attack them. This is the reason that giving incorrect ABO blood turns to be fatal. Another significant factor worth considering is the Rh system. All the blood groups have the possibility of having Rh antigens. Conversely, there are some who have it, while some do not have it. In case, the blood group belongs to Rh antigens, then they are Rh positive and a person having A blood group with Rh positive is recognized as A+. In case a person has A blood group with Rh negative, then it is A-. This is the same pattern followed for O, B or AB blood group as well. The Rh system duals the blood groups effectively so that the positive blood type does not get mixed with negative. Today nearly 84% population is Rh positive. However, the common blood group is O and is in great demand and the blood groups existed even among the ethnic groups.
